In our latest classroom lesson, the second graders are learning about conflict resolution! We're playing a fun Wheel of Fortune game and discussing 6 ways to solve conflicts with siblings or friends:
- Share
- Take Turns
- Decide With Luck- flip a coin, do rock-paper-scissors, draw names from a hat, etc.
- Make A Deal- compromise, so that nobody gets everything they want but everyone gets something they want. Everyone needs to agree that the plan is fair.
- Take A Break- walk away and take some time to calm down. Come back and solve the problem later if it still seems important.
- Talk & Listen- each person tells their side of the story without interruptions, and you try to talk the problem out.
So far Myrick, Brown, Dean, Singley, Johnson, and Hamner's classes have had this lesson. I will visit the remaining second grade classes this week!
