Kindergarten Lesson on Feelings

We will start a new lesson in kindergarten tomorrow. It will follow up on our last lesson about anger by introducing students to a wider variety of feelings. We'll read the colorful book The Way I Feel to learn the names of numerous emotions. Then we'll create flip-books that show how we look when we feel 3 different emotions and identify situations in which we feel those ways. Each child will have different feelings in their book, because we'll draw 3 slips of paper from my "mystery feelings" bucket for them to glue onto their flaps. Look for your child to bring home his or her book either this week or the week after spring break. I'll see Dockery, Siemers, Aldridge, Miller, Tingle, Hester, Galloway, and Roberts this week. All other K classes will take place during the last week of March. If you have any questions, just let me know!

Update 3/10- The students have been doing such thoughtful, enthusiastic work that I wanted to share a few pictures. I have enjoyed seeing the situations they draw and how they make the faces look- it is like seeing the world through a child's-eye-view!
