When I interviewed a UA scientist for the career video clips I showed during 2nd grade lessons, I learned that her graduate students do outreach projects at elementary schools. We scheduled amphibian/reptile presentations for this past Thursday, and 14 classes were able to participate in the day-long event. Our TPS students loved seeing and even touching live snakes, frogs, toads, and salamanders! A few pictures are below. I am thrilled that I happened to find a professor who is community service-oriented! Students from this professor's lab also planted some gardens at TPS at the beginning of the school year. Many thanks to Dr. Leslie Rissler and her graduate students for putting on such a special learning experience!
